Keeping Kuhn is vital for our European aspirations. If he has to be sold then Celtic must demand top dollar…

RB Leipzig have been credited with an interest in Celtic winger Nicolas Kuhn and it’s been suggested that the Bundesliga side are considering a £15 million bid for the player who was once on their books as a youth player.

Celtic supporters have mixed feelings about Nicolas future at the club with some saying we should cash in, whilst others are in favour of keeping the man who was sensational for the first half of last campaign.

However what is probably not up for debate is that Nicolas Kuhn was Celtic’s top performer in the UEFA Champions League last season and that in itself is worthy of some reflection before any lowball offer is entertained.

For me I think it’s vital we hold onto Nicolas especially if we have any aspirations of improving on the European front. In last year’s all new look champions league he impressed greatly scoring three goals and registering one assist. His all round play was fantastic and his style is well suited to the continental game.

It’s no surprise that Nicolas is attracting interest from his homeland particularly Leipzig who he terrorised in a 3-1 win at Celtic Park, not forgetting his superb display in the Allianz Arena against Bayern Munich with his goal so nearly recording a famous win.

We should be doing all we can to hold onto Nicolas. Although our factors might come into play such as his desire to be in Glasgow, but at the end of the day the club hold all the cards as the former Rapid Wien man is contracted to 2029. So if he does move we should be demanding more than the £15 million fee that’s been reported.
