Tottenham need to act fast in the transfer window and bring in their intended targets

There was a sense of relief last month when Tottenham secured Champions league football for next season. The Lilywhites just did not get going in domestic competitions and struggled to get positive results. They finished just a place above the relegation zone in the Premier League, registering 22 losses along the way.

Yet, Ange Postecoglou’s men somehow managed to exceed all expectations and win the Europa League against all odds. Winning the competition not only the 17-year wait for a major trophy at N17, but it also meant that Spurs qualified for Champions League football for next season. The historic achievement in Bilbao also saved the North London club’s blushes this season after a disastrous Premier League campaign.

Winning the Europa League also meant that the Lilywhites received a huge influx of money through cash prize. It was reported earlier that Spurs earnt approximately £70m by winning the competition and ensuring their place in the Champions League next season. Now, fans will hope that the North London club reinvests that money by bringing in new players in the summer for next season.

Paul Robinson backs Tottenham to go big in the transfer window

There is a slight concern amongst fans that players would not be keen to join Tottenham in the summer due to the managerial situation at the club. Daniel Levy has now decided Ange Postecoglou’s fate at N17 and the Australian tactician will now be replaced. This might be why the North London club is already playing catch up with other clubs in the transfer market.

However, ex-Spurs player Paul Robinson also believes that the club will still sign quality players in the summer despite the managerial situation. Speaking to Tottenham News, Robinson said,

“Recruitment is not going to be a problem because of the Champions League football. Tottenham’s a massive football club. It was a poor domestic season last year, as we know, but I don’t think the uncertainty around the manager’s future will have any impact on signing players whatsoever. I think the opportunity to play for a football club the size of Tottenham Hotspur and Champions League football will be enough.”

Paul Robinson believes that bringing new players in will not be a problem for Tottenham due to the club’s qualification for Champions League football next season. The ex-Spurs players adds that the uncertainty surrounding who will take over from Postecoglou at N17 will not be a problem for the club when they look to sign quality players. Robinson suggests that the size of the club and playing in the Champions League next season will be enough for players to join the Lilywhites in the summer.

Fans will hope that the North London club walks the talk in the transfer window and brings in new players. Spurs have a brilliant chance to build on the Europa League success and kickstart a new era at Hotspur Way. Signing quality replacements while cashing in on underperforming players will be the step in the right direction for the Lilywhites.
