Tottenham right-back Pedro Porro was fantastic in the 2-0 win over Bodo/Glimt in the second leg of the Europa League semi-final
Tottenham Hotspur have made it into the final of the UEFA Europa League. Ange Postecoglou and Co. were excellent over two legs against Bodo/Glimt in the semi-final, showing their class and quality by beating them 5-1 on aggregate.
Ange Postecoglou claimed earlier this campaign that he always wins trophies in his second season, and the Australian tactician is now just game away from living up to his words. With the way against Bodo/Glimt, Postecoglou has also managed to respond to some of his critics who have been all over his back for large parts of the campaign.
While no one can hide from the fact that Spurs have had an awful Premier League campaign, the Europa League gives the players and Ange Postecoglou a chance to redeem themselves and bring some joy and smiles to the faces of our loyal supporters.
Pedro Porro has been an integral part of Tottenham’s Europa League run-in. The full-back was excellent in Norway on Thursday evening, scoring from a freak cross-shot effort that sealed a memorable deal for Big Ange’s boys. He continues to show his quality on and off the ball, and it is no surprise why the Spaniard is now rated amongst the best right-backs across the Premier League.
Spurs have faced plenty of criticism this season, and rightly so, but Pedro Porro insists they are nothing but a “humble team” focused on fulfilling their objectives.
“We’re a normal, humble team that knows what the objectives are, and we have to go after them. They haven’t enjoyed winning titles for a long time, and that’s what we’re trying to achieve,” Porro said in an exclusive interview with DAZN.
It has been another taxing season for the Spanish international, who is currently the undisputed first-choice right-back at Tottenham, despite Djed Spence managing to surpass him in the pecking order only a couple of months ago. Porro is just three shy of completing 50 appearances for the season, in which he has bagged 12 goal contributions.
There is no doubt that this has been the Don Benito native’s best season in a Tottenham shirt. However, it has been revealed recently that Tottenham’s board are ready to sell Porro this summer following Spence’s emergence at right-back. For the right price, the decision-makers feel that it would be a good idea to cash in on Porro amid Manchester City’s interest and reinvest the funds from his sale into signing a back-up for Spence.
At 25, Porro is still light years away from hitting his prime, and for someone who is settled at the club and a crucial member of the first team, Spurs chiefs must think twice before selling the Spaniard this summer.
