Norwich City beats Watford in battle to avoid Premier League relegation zone

Norwich City is out of the Premier League's relegation zone after hopping Watford with a 3-0 win.

Missouri-native Josh Sargent led the way for Norwich City on Friday with goals in the 51st and 74th minutes. The third goal for Norwich City was an own goal in extra time about 15 minutes after Watford's Emmanuel Bonaventure was sent off with a red card.

Sargent's first goal of the day — which was also his first in the Premier League — came in spectacular fashion after he contorted his body to redirect a Teemu Pukki cross with his back heel.

Delighted Norwich City fans who traveled to watch the team play in Watford serenaded Sargent with chants of "USA" after the match.

The teams that finish in the bottom three of the Premier League's 20-team table will be relegated at the end of the season. Friday's match was a battle of teams in 17th and 18th place. With the win, Norwich City now has 16 points, while Watford still has just 14. Newcastle and Burnley sit at the bottom with 12 points and 11 points, respectively.

Norwich City was held scoreless in six straight Premier League losses before snapping the losing streak with a 2-1 win against Everton on Saturday.
