Tottenham need to be proactive in the transfer market now that the managerial situation at N17 is sorted out. The Lilywhites have already fallen short of their mark in the summer and it is fair to say that they did not make the most out of the extended transfer window period before the start of the FIFA Club World Cup. Now, Daniel Levy must be ready to invest heavily into the squad once the transfer market opens again.
The North London club must bring in new signings if they want to build on the Europa League success next year. Spurs endured a disastrous Premier League campaign under Ange Postecoglou, which forced the club to incur huge financial losses heading into the summer. Due to this, Daniel Levy is forced to adopt the ‘sell-to-buy’ policy if the club wants to bring in new signings for next season.
Before proceeding to sign their intended targets, the Lilywhites will first have to make sure that they cash in on underperforming players. A major squad overhaul is anyways needed at N17, so selling some of the deadwood in the coming weeks might be a blessing in disguise for Tottenham as they look to close the gap on their rivals next season.
Tottenham are expected to bring in attacking reinforcements heading into next season. With Heung-Min Son facing a steady decline at N17 and potentially heading for a summer exit, Daniel Levy must sign a new winger to replace the South Korea international for next season as the Lilywhites look to kickstart a new era under Thomas Frank.
It was reported earlier that Spurs were interested in signing Man City star Jack Grealish for next season. However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham has urged the club to not proceed with the deal to bring in the winger. Speaking to Tottenham News, Wenham said,
“I wouldn’t want Tottenham to sign Grealish. I don’t think we’ve seen the Grealish that we saw at Aston Villa for around three years now. He is on massive money; he is quite injury prone, and I don’t know if he still has that hunger. We just haven’t seen top-level performances from him for several years now, and with his wages, I don’t think a move to Tottenham is the right fit for either party.”
John Wenham has suggested that Tottenham should not sign Jack Grealish in the summer. The Lilywhites Rose owner added that the Man City has not endured a successful stint under Pep Guardiola and has lost his way at the Etihad Stadium. Wenham pointed out that the 29-year-old is on massive wages and also questioned Grealish’s hunger to start from scratch again.
Fans will hope that Daniel Levy brings in new players to address the problems on the pitch before the start of next season. The Lilywhites are competing in the Champions League next year, so Levy must bring in quality players to add more depth in the squad as Spurs will look to compete on four fronts under Thomas Frank.
