Nottingham Forest are interested in Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho

For years now, patience at Old Trafford has worn thin. We are a fan base that has seen coaches, projects, and promises come and go. Among those names was Jadon Sancho, a big money signing wrapped in hype and expectation. What should have been a redemption story has devolved into a bitter soap opera. His talent was never in question, but concerns over attitude and off-field decisions soon began to ring alarm bells. Now, yet another chapter in Sancho’s story is being written and frankly, none of it surprises us anymore.

Manchester United have lacked a clear identity for years. Last season was brutal as we finished 15th in the Premier League and lost the UEFA Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur, leaving us without any European football for the upcoming campaign. Ruben Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag midseason, and in the ensuing chaos, players like Sancho found themselves lost in the shuffle. From his explosive rise at Dortmund to a dismal return to England, his trajectory has only spiralled downward. We sent him to Chelsea hoping for a spark, but it never came. He returned, whispers of reconciliation followed, but the reality? Both club and player had already thrown in the towel.

Nottingham Forest enter the picture

Now, according to The Sun, Nottingham Forest are ready to rewrite the script. With Anthony Elanga sold to Newcastle United, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are in the market for a direct replacement and they’ve identified Jadon Sancho as the ideal candidate. This isn’t the first time Forest have shown interest; they made a move for him last summer but lost out to Chelsea. This time, however, the circumstances are different. Forest have secured European football, they have a clear structure in place, and most importantly, they can offer Sancho something he’s been missing: a real opportunity to rebuild and prove himself in a system with purpose.

What can Sancho bring to the City Ground?

Sancho, for all his ups and downs, remains a winger with pace, vision, and valuable Premier League experience. Nottingham Forest view him not through a lens of nostalgia, but through one of necessity and logic. On his day, he can glide past defenders, create chances, and score crucial goals. In a more structured environment, under firmer management and away from the intense media glare, there’s every chance Sancho could rediscover the form that once made him a star in Germany.

Time to be realistic, not proud

As United fans, we’d rather see the club approach this with a cool head. Let’s be honest, no one is paying £25 million for Sancho right now, not after that uninspiring spell at Stamford Bridge. If Nottingham Forest come in with an offer between £15m and £20m, the club should seriously consider it. We might even need to cover a portion of his wages just to make the deal viable. It’s better to cut our losses now than keep a player who’s clearly disconnected and not part of the manager’s plans. A loan with an obligation to buy could work too, though we’ve been down that road before. Chelsea did it, then paid the penalty just to get rid of him. Meanwhile, Juventus are also sniffing around, reportedly interested in bringing him to Serie A.

A transfer that could be a win-win for everyone

For Nottingham Forest, it would be a sensible transfer. For Sancho, a much-needed chance to be relevant again. And for us, it’s one less problem in the dressing room. We don’t need players who aren’t fully convinced they want to wear our shirt. If he leaves and finds form elsewhere, good for him but Manchester United must move forward with players who are truly committed to the crest. Football waits for no one, and it’s time this club starts rebuilding on real foundations, not clinging to names from the past.
