Xavi Simons has not hit the ground running at Tottenham.

Tottenham have been looking to bring in players from the English top tier to their roster of late as they look to assemble a roster that knows the league in and out.

But the Lilywhites are not the only club keeping tabs on elite talents in the English top tier, as fresh reports from Football Insider insist that Spanish giants Real Madrid are monitoring Morgan Rogers, as the report goes on to state how the bookmakers have slashed odds of the Englishman making the move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

This news comes as Tottenham continue to keep tabs on the Aston Villa man who has put in an impressive 17 GA this season.

Odds slashed for Morgan Rogers to Madrid

Rogers has been one of the better attacking profiles in the English top tier for a couple of seasons now. And he is showing it at Villa Park this season with his 10 goals and seven assists in all competitions.

And his performances have not gone unnoticed, as the odds of him moving to Real Madrid have been slashed to around 4/1. This shows how the interest in his signing has been growing of late.

Morgan Rogers would be ideal at Hotspur Way with Xavi Simons linked with a pre-mature exit

One reason that Rogers would be of a massive appeal to the chiefs at Real Madrid would be his versatility and ability to play across the front line (and in half-spaces behind it), but that is exactly what peaks the Lilywhites’ interest as well.

Given that Rogers can not only create but also find the back of the net, if Tottenham do manage to sign him, he can be a long-term successor to Xavi Simons, who has been linked with a Hotspur Way exit of late.

Simons has not managed to find his feet in a struggling Lilywhites side, and given where Spurs are placed, he could be looking to move away from his current employers despite only signing just last summer.

And Tottenham can bring in someone who has that Premier League experience in Rogers. But Madrid interest complicates that for the North Londoners.

Author Opinion

For Tottenham, having Madrid in the mix only complicates the situation, and it is just a preview of how difficult transfers are going to be for the Lilywhites next summer.

Rogers will demand a marquee value, with the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool also being linked with him, showing how much Spurs will have to fight out if they are to win his signature.
