Manchester United’s humiliating Carabao Cup exit to League Two Grimsby has intensified the pressure on Rúben Amorim . Despite calls from fans, the board and Sir Jim Ratcliffe have so far stood by their manager.

Still, bookmakers have already put together odds on who could take over at Old Trafford if the hierarchy changes its mind.

10. Unai Emery (12/1)

Emery performed well in the Premier League with Aston Villa, and he is known for having organized, competitive teams. Although his current contract suggests he may not be available, he could be an option.

9. Zinedine Zidane (12/1)

The French legend looks like a long shot. Zidane has an impressive Real Madrid record, so he would immediately add credibility, but he has not managed since 2021.

8. Xavi Hernández (12/1)

The FC Barcelona great is relevant in this conversation due to his work at La Masia (FC Barcelona’s formation center) and obviously his success at the club. The biggest question mark here would be his adjustment to the Premier League’s pace.

7. Andoni Iraola (10/1)

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has really caught people's eye with his high-pressing attacking style and how he can get the most out of his players. He led Bournemouth to one of their better Premier League finishes last year.

6. Kieran McKenna (10/1)

Ipswich manager McKenna is young, innovative, and a modern coach with a growing reputation. He’s a sentimental pick for fans, though United would need to negotiate his current contract.

5. Mauricio Pochettino (8/1)

Now with the USMNT, Pochettino has experience in the Premier League with spurs as well as Chelsea. He has experience and ambition but United will need to navigate around him being with the national team.

4. Oliver Glasner (8/1)

At Crystal Palace, Glasner has been regarded for his tactical discipline and tactical organisation. He will be a practical appointment with league experience however, getting him midseason may be a bit of a stretch.

3. Marco Silva (6/1)

Silva has impressed with Vieira with squad management and style of play at Fulham. He is a well-regarded manager in England, however, there's financial and contractual considerations that may hinder a move.

2. Michael Carrick (5/1)

Club legend and a former captain, Carrick is also an interim manager as he led the team for one game. Well-liked by fans and respected from the inside, he is clearly the obvious internal option to provide continuity if United wants to pursue that outcome.

1. Gareth Southgate (5/1)

The former England manager is seen as the favorite to replace Amorim. Southgate has a safe pair of calm hands for Old Trafford so he can deal with egos, and is used to the pressure. Southgate is also well-liked so he's a safe option.
