Off-Court Report Emerges on Newest Celtics Player

The second apron sometimes forces teams like the Boston Celtics to make difficult decisions. After losing superstar forward Jayson Tatum to an Achilles injury in the playoffs, they decided it was best to cut costs and plan for the future rather than keep their championship core intact.

Boston traded veteran guard Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers for Anfernee Simons and dealt big man Kristaps Porzingis in a three-team deal that netted them Georges Niang and a second-round pick from the Atlanta Hawks. It also let backup big man Luke Kornet walk in free agency. These moves got the team under the second apron, which increases its financial flexibility.

However, the Celtics signed former Minnesota Timberwolves forward Josh Minott, and he received a special off-court review from Timberwolves reporter Andrew Dukowitz. Dukowitz sent it to SB Nation's Noa Dalzell, who posted it on social media.

"He's a really sweet kid. I did a charity event with him this spring, and he brought a bunch of new mother supplies to a 24-hour daycare," he said. "He brought his toddler and grandma with him. There were like 100 strollers and high chairs, diaper bags, a U-Haul full of stuff."

"Usually, the athletes just take a couple inside, then pose for pictures," he continued. "Josh, on the other hand, took about two hours helping the staff haul all of it in..."

The Charlotte Hornets drafted Minott No. 45 overall in 2022 before they traded him to Minnesota. The 22-year-old averages 2.3 points on 48.9 percent shooting (32.6 percent 3 PT) across five minutes over his career.

The Celtics also signed No. 28 overall pick Hugo Gonzalez to a rookie-scale contract on Tuesday.
