Chelsea have been one of the most active buyers in the summer transfer window, and, once again, they have almost completely overhauled their forward positions in an effort to provide superstar – and Club World Cup winning hero – Cole Palmer with more support as the playmaker pulling the strings.

Jadon Sancho, Joao Felix, and Noni Madueke are out while young center forwards Joao Pedro and Liam Delap are in alongside potentially world-class wingers Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Estevao Willian.

But Chelsea aren’t done tweaking their attack just yet, as the Blues have ambitions of winning the Premier League and Champions League in 2025/26 after proving they can beat any team in the world by winning the literal Club World Cup, demolishing Champions League winners PSG 3-0 in an emphatic statement of a final.

Chelsea still need to finish up their clear-out, though, and the next name on the chopping block is veteran forward Raheem Sterling, who, like Sancho going back the other way, didn’t stick on loan at Arsenal after another dismal season.

A potential reunion with a former league-winning Chelsea manager

Sterling went to Chelsea’s North London rivals because he was the antithesis of what the team wanted on the wings in the 2023/24 season, and, now, the Blues are trying to scour Europe for a landing spot for a player who has been an unequivocal transfer flop since joining from Manchester City at the start of the Todd Boehly era.

A vestige of the past, Sterling has drawn limited interest on the transfer market, but his latest rumored destination just might be the one that sticks and becomes a great home for him.

According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have recently “offered” Raheem Sterling to Serie A champions Napoli, who recently turned two unwanted Premier League players – including Chelsea transfer flop Romelu Lukaku – into two of Serie A’s best and most important players en route to an unlikely second Scudetto in three years.

Lukaku and fellow former Manchester United man Scott McTominay had spellbinding seasons for former Chelsea – and Tottenham – manager Antonio Conte, who reminded the world that he is one of the best around.

Perhaps Conte could coax the same out of Sterling. The veteran forward has no future at Chelsea, with Romano emphatically stating that the former England international “will leave” Stamford Bridge this summer.

Napoli, per Fab, are looking at other options on the left wing this summer besides Sterling, but at a bargain price that will likely be even less than the 30 million euros they spent on Lukaku last year, Sterling could be a smart signing in conjunction with someone young.
