Inter Milan have been “old but gold” with multiple players over the age of 35 contributing on their run to the Champions League final against PSG.
As the Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, highlight, there are five players for whom this will almost certainly be the last opportunity to lift this trophy.
Inter Milan are in the Champions League final.
The Nerazzurri will take on Paris Saint-Germain in Munich tomorrow evening.
And the contrast in the average ages of the two teams is very clear.
PSG have relied on a very youthful team. There are plenty of players in their squad who, if they fail to lift the trophy tomorrow, will probably have more chances down the line.
Inter Milan, on the other hand, have gotten the most out of veteran experience in the Champions League this season.
Francesco Acerbi, aged 37, Yann Sommer, aged 36, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, also aged 36, have all been immovable from Inter’s lineup in the knockouts.
Meanwhile, 35-year-old Matteo Darmian started both legs of Inter’s quarterfinal tie against Bayern Munich.
The former Manchester United man had also started on the left against Arsenal. He has done a job on both flanks as well as in the back three.
And even Marko Arnautovic had had his contribution. During the league phase. the 36-year-old Austrian international was a regular starter.
