Last summer, Manchester United had a fantastic summer transfer window, transforming their attacking line.
Matheus Cunha joined from Wolves while Bryan Mbeumo arrived from Brentford, bringing proven Premier League experience to Old Trafford.
Meanwhile Benjamin Sesko was signed from RB Leipzig as a promising young striker, able to become the next front-man for The Red Devils.
The other end of the pitch saw Senne Lammens arrive from Royal Antwerp in a move that has been awarded the transfer of the season thanks to his impact for the club.
Lammens brought consistency and reliability to a previously problematic goalkeeping department, while all three of United’s new attackers scored at least ten goals each.
As such, all four of United’s signings from last summer have been incredibly successful and made a major impact at Old Trafford.
And that is why United’s CEO Omar Berrada has said he plans to head into this summer with the same approach.
Speaking on on Inside Man Utd, Berrada explained: “The template of what we did last summer will be replicated. We have a clear plan.”
He continued:“I do think what we saw last season is a good way forward for us, which is we want a mix of experience and youth.
“We want a mix of players who have demonstrated they can perform in the Premier League and perhaps also players who are doing very well outside the Premier League.
“We have to be really disciplined, it’s simple. It’s very important that you don’t let the market or the agents dictate what we should be doing.”
Already United have agreed terms to sign Atalanta’s Ederson when the transfer window opens up, with further links to Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Lewis Hall and Rafael Leao.
However, it’s currently unknown who United’s second signing will be, but if last year is anything to go by, we won’t have to wait long to find out.
