Carney Chukwuemeka started the season brightly with a goal against West Ham, but hasn’t seen the pitch since.
He had surgery on a knee problem and looked set to return in October, but since then there’s been a serious setback.
Daily Telegraph correspondent Matt Law reported in the last few days that the midfielder has had to change his “mechanics” and “running style” to prevent future injury.
Matt Law: "Carney Chukwuemeka is close to returning. His injury was a lot worse than what people first thought. He’s had to change his running style and mechanics in terms of how he moves his body to prevent future injuries."

In his press conference today Mauricio Pochettino confirmed that Chukwuemeka is training normally now and will soon be ready to return to the squad.
The good news is that once Carney is fit he will be a great option to have back in the team. His dynamic central midfield play is something we really need, especially later in games against low blocks when we’re looking for an injection of energy and invention from the bench.
He will have to play a few weeks as a sub to get up to speed, but that may suit us just fine.
