Opinion: Todd Boehly needs to calm down on 'last two and a half games'

Todd Boehly’s comments from this late last night are causing a bit of a debate on social media today after some of the comments are deemed a little bit silly.

I think that is probably the nicest way of putting some of the words, even though I completely understand where he is actually coming from.

So what has he actually said?

Well, in my opinion he has somewhat been clinging onto the “last two and a half games” and it’s all a little desperate and silly.

Boehly, who was not asked about Mauricio Pochettino at all during his interview yesterday, said: “We’ve seen the last two and a half games, at least in the second half at Aston Villa (2-2 draw) and Tottenham (2-0 win) and West Ham (5-0 win) where we played just beautiful football.

“It was so fluid, it was exactly the way we drew it up, when we came out of the back, built up and moved up the pitch, (it was) very organised and the number of shots we had on board. In those two and a half games, you could really start to see what we were working on coming together.

“Even the commentary has changed over the last two and a half games. I’ve never seen anything change so quickly.”

I think we can all admit that the last two and a half games have been excellent from Chelsea. Really great results and the performances have been even better.

But I also think Boehly needs to calm down a little bit on that. How many times have we seen Chelsea play well for a couple of games this season and get great results, to then fall off the wagon once again and slip back down the slippery slope of the Premier League? I mean, before these now infamous last two and a half games, we were 9th in the league. Let’s just get some more perspective here before we start shouting ‘we’ve made it!’
