Victor Osimhen has rejected an offer from Al-Hilal , giving Napoli a new transfer challenge, as the club is unwilling to accept offers below his €75m release clause.
Osimhen is still waiting to choose his next club after rejecting an offer from Al-Hilal earlier this week.
As reported by Gazzetta, the Nigeria international will be called up for Napoli’s pre-season unless he finds a club beforehand.
Football Italia reported earlier this week that the 2022-23 top Serie A goalscorer had turned down a €30m-a-year offer from Al-Hilal.
Gazzetta confirms that the striker wants to remain in Europe and expects to receive a contract offer of at least €10m.
At the same time, Napoli are unwilling to accept offers below the striker’s €75m clause.
The Partenopei faced a similar issue last summer when Osimhen held talks with several clubs, including Chelsea and PSG, but ultimately joined Galatasaray on loan after the end of the summer transfer window in Europe’s top five leagues.
Galatasaray vice president Ibrahim Hatipoglu has recently claimed that the Turkish giants are confident of retaining Osimhen; however, it remains to be seen whether the club will be able to match Napoli’s and Osimhen’s demands.
Juventus, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United remain interested in Osimhen, but have not yet sent offers for the 26-year-old, according to Gazzetta.
The pink paper notes that the Nigeria international is even open to staying in Serie A, where clubs can still utilise the Growth Decree to save 50% of his gross salary, as Osimhen joined Napoli in 2020, when the law was still in effect.
