Paris Saint-Germain fell 3-1 in Kylian Mbappé’s final match at the Parc des Princes as a player for his hometown club. The 25-year-old scored the opening goal, but Toulouse FC would score three unanswered goals for the victory.

It wasn’t the ideal way for the Parisians to close out their last home match of the season while also lifting their 12th Ligue 1 title. Nonetheless, the focus was on Mbappé and reflecting on his exit in a few weeks.

Ousmane Dembélé has been teammates with the 25-year-old on the French national team and is now playing at the club level this season. The 26-year-old spoke with Canal Plus about the Frenchman’s exit.

“I spent a season with him at Paris Saint-Germain, although I first knew him from the national team,” Dembélé told the French media outlet (h/t Paris Fans). “He gave so much to the club, becoming its all-time leading scorer and one of the greatest French players as well. We’re grateful for everything he’s done; he’s really grown here.

“He’s achieved so much and deserves to be a legend of Paris Saint-Germain. But that’s life. You come, you go to other clubs. It’s your choice. We’re happy with everything he’s done here at Paris Saint-Germain. I hope to still have him as a teammate in the national team.”

On Friday, Mbappé announced that he’d be leaving the club after this season, with his contract expiring next month. Once the UEFA Champions League final is over, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner will officially be announced as Real Madrid’s newest player.
