Oviedo vs Barcelona Lineups, Injuries & Predictions

Barcelona will take on Oviedo away from home on Thursday, September 25, at the Carlos Tartiere Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:45 p.m. ET. Barça travels with a strong squad, but will once again be without Lamine Yamal.

The Spanish winger picked up an injury before joining the national team, and the situation appears to have worsened. According to coach Hansi Flick, Spain’s medical staff gave Yamal painkillers so he could feature for the national side, which aggravated the problem.

Since then, the teenager has not returned to training. He did, however, attend the Ballon d’Or ceremony earlier this week as one of the favorites for the prize — though Ousmane Dembélé ultimately claimed the award.

In Yamal’s absence, Marcus Rashford is expected to start, with Raphinha shifting to the left wing. Rashford was decisive in Barcelona’s Champions League opener against Newcastle, scoring twice to secure the victory.

Predictions for Oviedo vs Barcelona

While Barça is chasing Real Madrid from second place in La Liga, Oviedo sit in the relegation zone. Hansi Flick’s side is expected to come out at full speed, with the quality to potentially decide the match before halftime.

Marcus Rashford has already shown he can make an impact for Barcelona, whether starting or coming off the bench. And although he’ll likely return to a substitute role once Lamine Yamal recovers, his performances continue to prove his value to the squad.
