Param Bhatia has officially joined Manchester United as the club continue making additions following a summer of major change at Old Trafford.
United spent heavily strengthening Michael Carrick’s squad, with Carlos Baleba, Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Karl Darlow among the arrivals.
However, criticism remained over the failure to recruit another established defender. That concern has hardly disappeared during a difficult opening five Premier League games.
United have collected just five points, matching their joint-worst start to a Premier League season, while winning only once.
The performances have exposed structural problems too. Carrick’s side looked particularly vulnerable during the 1-1 draw at Fulham, where Senne Lammens was repeatedly required before Lisandro Martinez’s own goal.
United have also struggled badly for intensity. They have registered 1,691 high-speed runs, joint-bottom in the Premier League, and covered 6.6 kilometres less than Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Those numbers have intensified scrutiny around Carrick after he guided United to third last season.
The club are still strengthening behind the scenes as they attempt to improve both on and off the pitch.
Despite the timing, Bhatia is not another addition to Carrick’s playing squad.
He has announced on LinkedIn that he has started a full-time position as Hospitality Sales Executive at Manchester United.
Bhatia described United as one of the world’s most iconic sporting organisations and called the move a particularly special next step in his professional journey.
His background is predominantly in marketing, content and student engagement rather than professional football.
Before joining United, Bhatia worked as a Student Ambassador and Content Creator for Alliance Manchester Business School and created multimedia content for Downing.
He also worked on the University of Manchester’s Manchester Calling campaign after previously holding development and marketing positions in India.
His LinkedIn profile lists his United role as beginning in September 2026, with Bhatia thanking Caroline Wagstaffe and Rachel Pantegi for their support in giving him the opportunity.
United’s rebuilding, therefore, is stretching beyond Carrick’s squad as another new face begins life at Old Trafford.
