Milan legend Alexandre Pato is in Singapore with the Rossoneri first-team squad for their pre-season tour, and gave his verdict on the appointment of Massimiliano Allegri and the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti as the head coach of the Brazil national team when spotted by Italian reporters.

Milan are currently in Singapore for a pre-season friendly against Arsenal taking place on Wednesday. The Rossoneri will travel to Hong Kong to face reigning Premier League champions Liverpool on Saturday and will also face Perth Glory in Australia on July 31.

Pato, along with compatriot and fellow former Milan star Serginho are among the special guests to have dropped by the Rossoneri camp before their test against Arsenal, and spoke to Sky Sport Italia about the two of his former Rossoneri coaches in Allegri and Ancelotti.

Pato on Allegri at Milan and Ancelotti in Brazil

Asked if he thinks Allegri has changed at all since he was last in charge in San Siro over 10 years ago, Pato replied: “As a person, he’s always the same.”

He continued: “I think that, for this moment now, he is the person that Milan needs.

“He brings what Ancelotti also brought for us Brazilians. He’s someone who has won, who knows Milan very well. I’m sure he will give these players what they need on the pitch 100%. I’m really pleased that he’s here.”

Then, shifting his focus to Ancelotti, who has recently been appointed as the first ever foreign manager of the Brazil national team, Pato added: “For us, at the beginning, it was a bit strange because we’ve never had a manager of a different nationality different to our own.

“But, the idea to bring him in now for this moment is the best thing, because he’s someone who has one, someone who commands respect, so I’m really happy that he’s here.”
