Manchester United’s recruitment team have spent the opening weeks of the winter window exploring creative ways to strengthen the squad, and conversations at Carrington have increasingly turned towards how elite players shape their careers once they leave Old Trafford.
Across Europe, several high-profile former United names have taken unusual paths after moving on, prompting fresh debate over life beyond the Premier League spotlight.
With the club attempting to build a long-term project under Ruben Amorim, there has also been curiosity around how ex-United players reinvent themselves while still holding global influence.
These discussions have grown louder recently, especially as more footballers branch out into unexpected industries while staying connected to the sporting world.
One such figure is United legend Patrice Evra who has become an investor and ambassador for Football.Fun.
And now, one of the most surprising developments yet has put a familiar name back into the headlines.
The figure at the centre of the story is Paul Pogba, and his latest move has caught United supporters completely off guard.
The 32-year-old Monaco midfielder, formerly of Manchester United and Juventus, has officially become part of the world’s first professional camel racing team.
Paul Pogba has joined Saudi Arabian side Al Haboob as both a shareholder and ambassador, marking an astonishing new chapter in his career, as he announced on Instagram.
Al Haboob compete in races across the Gulf Cooperation Council, which includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
Their long-term ambition is to establish the world’s first fully professional camel racing league, a sport deeply rooted in Arabian tradition and now a booming industry.
Elite, champion racing camels can reportedly sell for more than £4 million, demonstrating the scale and financial power behind the project.
Pogba is not alone in backing the venture, with several major investors joining him in supporting Al Haboob’s push to professionalise the sport.
Announcing his involvement on Instagram, Pogba wrote: ” New chapter, same energy.
“Proud to be part of a historic sporting moment, joining Al Haboob camel racing team as Shareholder and Ambassador. Let’s make history together!”
A World Cup winner in 2018, Pogba recently made his Monaco debut against Rennes, his first competitive appearance in over two years.
He joined the Ligue 1 club on a free transfer in June, signing a two-year deal after leaving Juventus in November 2024.
For Manchester United, Pogba’s latest move serves as another reminder of how dramatically careers can evolve once players leave Old Trafford.
While his chapter at United ended long ago, his global profile continues to take unexpected turns, and his leap into camel racing is arguably the most remarkable twist yet.
