Pedro Rodriguez will mark his 38th birthday in July, but he is on the verge of signing a new contract to stay at Lazio until June 2026.

The veteran Spain international first joined the Aquile in 2021 as a free agent from Roma, having left Chelsea in 2020.

It has been a remarkably prolific campaign, as Pedro found the net 14 times in 43 competitive games, along with five assists.

That was split into 10 in Serie A and four in the Europa League, where Lazio reached the quarter-final.

Pedro ready to continue career at Lazio

His current contract only runs to June 30, but Lazio have stated they will gladly offer him a new deal if he decides to postpone his retirement.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, the contract is ready to be signed and it remains to be seen if they will include an option to extend until 2027.

His salary right now is €2.2m per season plus performance-related bonuses, though a cut is possible considering his age.

A lot will also depend on the budget and whether Lazio qualify for the Champions League, Europa League or the Conference League.
