Kristjan Asllani proved himself a “penalty specialist” with another flawless spot kick in yesterday’s Serie A clash between Torino and Inter Milan.
This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They note that the Albanian has taken ten penalties and scored them all.
It was Kristjan Asllani who stepped up to take the penalty that Mehdi Taremi had won for Inter Milan against Torino yesterday.
There weren’t necessarily any of the usual takers on the pitch. Many of Inter’s first-choice starters were out injured or on the bench.
However, Asllani slotted his effort away with calm assurance.
The former Empoli midfielder got it right with a slight stutter-step, which sent Torino keeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic the wrong way.
Kristjan Asllani had also previously taken a penalty for Inter against Hellas Verona the previous weekend.
There, the 22-year-old showed that he is not just the deputy for Hakan Calhanoglu in holding midfield. He is also the Turkish international’s understudy from the spot.
And like Calhanoglu, Asllani has shown a real mixture of composure and technique taking penalties.
So much so that, according to the Gazzetta, Asllani has never missed a penalty at either youth team or senior level.
The newspaper note that Asllani has taken a total of ten spot kicks. And in all three occasions, he has found the back of the net.
