Manchester City win another game in the Premier League after beating Brentford 1-0 away from home. The Citizens climb up to 5th in the table with 13 points and are three points behind league leaders Arsenal.

Erling Haaland scored the only goal of the game in the 9th minute of the match. In the 21st minute, Rodri appeared to have felt something in his hamstring and was subbed off by Pep Guardiola in the 22nd minute.

Nico Gonzalez replaced the Spanish midfielder. Rodri seemed frustrated as the Spanish midfielder has struggled to find his full match fitness after coming back from an ACL injury a few months ago.

Rodri has played seven games this season with Manchester City across all competitions, having appeared in five Premier League games and two Champions League games.

After the match, Pep Guardiola was asked for an update on Rodri's injury situation since the player has not looked the same since his ACL injury last year.

Guardiola mentioned journalists questioning his decision not to play Rodri for the full 90 minutes in the past few games. Guardiola is hopeful that Rodri's injury isn't serious.

Guardiola said, "I was right, no? In the beginning of the game, when you asked me why I don't play him 90 minutes all the time. The journalists always ask me why substitute him? Hopefully, it will not be huge."

Guardiola insists that he will not risk Rodri following this recent injury and will continue to substitute him off the pitch early to avoid a serious injury.

Guardiola said, "I remember the press conference [asking] why I substitute Rodri in Monaco. 'Why do this, why do that?' I would love to have Rodri every three days, but after one year, it happens all the time, it is so demanding. That is why we tried to be gentle, play 60-65 minutes, but it cannot happen anymore."

Guardiola Reveals How Long Rodri is Out For

When asked how long Rodri would be out for after the injury against Brentford, Guardiola estimated that the midfielder may be out for at least two weeks.

Guardiola confirmed that it is a muscular injury and said, "It is muscular, so two weeks or three weeks. Of course, I don't want to lose him even a little bit, but it is a pity because he is such an important player. We tried to take care of him, but it is what it is."

Simon Bajkowski, Chief Manchester City writer for the Manchester Evening News, spoke with Rodri after the game, and the midfielder is optimistic that he can play in the next Man City game after the international break.

Rodri said, "I’m good. I felt a little bit in the hamstring, but it seems like it’s not that much."

Manchester City faces Everton at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on October 18, after the international break.
