Tottenham Hotspur are facing a crunch time following their Europa League success last month. The Lilywhites have the perfect opportunity to build on the historic achievement in the summer as they look to close the gap on their rivals next season. With the North London club enjoying Champions League football next season, Daniel Levy must make sure that the right man is leading the team for the foreseeable future.
The Lilywhites questionably sacked Ange Postecoglou just two weeks after the Europa league success. The club’s disastrous domestic campaign forced Daniel Levy to part ways with the Australian tactician before things out of hand in the summer. While many expected big Ange to depart N17 at the end of the season, it was still seen as a shock due to the manner in which the ex-Celtic was relieved from his duties by Levy.
Now, Spurs are on the verge of hiring Thomas Frank as their new manager for next season as they look to kickstart a new era at N17. The Danish tactician has done a wonderful job at Brentford during his seven years in charge of the Bees. The 51-year-old lead the club to the Premier league in 2021 and has since made the West London side a regular outfit in England’s top-flight league.
If there is one manager that has gone under the radar in the Premier League… it is Thomas Frank. The 51-year-old has constantly overperformed with Brentford and has made the Bees a regular in the Premier League. The Danish manager also finished this season on a strong note as Brentford looked to challenge for the European spots via league position.
Now, Christian Eriksen has also come out and backed Frank to do well at Spurs following his imminent switch to N17. Speaking to Danish outlet Ekstra Bladet, Eriksen said,
“I think he is the right coach for Tottenham. I have had Thomas at various times, and I think he is the perfect match for Tottenham, and it would be great if Thomas takes on that challenge. His personality, his way of playing and his way of being. And the club considering where they were last season – they won a trophy of course – but they are in the process of building something up, and I am sure that Thomas is a good man to bring in.”
Christian Eriksen believes that Thomas Frank is the ‘perfect match’ for Tottenham. The ex-Spurs player adds that Frank’s personality and his tactics will be key for the Lilywhites and they have selected the right man to replace Ange Postecoglou. Eriksen also points out that Thomas Frank will be the ideal man to kickstart a new era at N17 following the Europa League success that the club endured last month.
It remains to be seen how the 51-year-old gets on at Tottenham following his switch from Brentford. The first order of business for Thomas Frank will be to get the players and the fans back on board before next season starts. The Lilywhites need to compete for trophies next season, as they will be playing in four different competitions. Anything less than a good run in a cup competition and a strong finish in the Premier League will be considered a failure.
