Last night, Peter Crouch told BT Sport that Antonio Conte does not trust two Tottenham Hotspur players, Yves Bissouma and Djed Spence.

Spurs were held to 0-0 draw against Frankfurt in the 3rd game of their Champions League group. Despite creating some decent chances, Conte’s men couldn’t find a way through.

Conte made three substitutions near the end of the game bringing on Ben Davies, Ryan Sessegnon, and even Bryan Gil for the first time this season. However, the Spurs manager ignored Bissouma and Spence once more. And Crouch believes it is because Conte does not trust the pair yet.

He told BT Sport:

“I do think there is a lack of trust in them, with Bissouma and Spence as well.”

“I think there is a lack of belief in starting them.”

Spence has made just one appearance for Spurs since joining from Middlesbrough in the summer. The 22-year-old came on as a late substitute in August’s 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest but has not played since.

Conte has used Bissouma more frequently, with eight appearances in a Spurs shirt. However, the Mali international has only played 160 minutes, with all but one of his appearances coming as a substitute.

The 26-year-old did make a promising cameo in last month’s 6-2 win over Leicester, but Conte has admitted Bissouma is “struggling” to adapt to his tactics.

Spurs will now play two games per week until the World Cup in Qatar, and Conte might need to rotate his squad as the fixtures pile up.
