Pippo Inzaghi earned promotion to Serie A as coach of Pisa and club President Giuseppe Corrado assures he will remain, ‘unless an offer arrives from Manchester City, then I will let him leave.’

The Serie B season is not over yet, but we already know the two teams who have earned direct promotion to the top flight are Sassuolo and Pisa.

The latter are coached by Pippo Inzaghi, who had plenty of reasons to celebrate this week, watching younger brother Simone’s Inter knock Barcelona out to reach the Champions League Final.

Pisa President Corrado was asked if Inzaghi Senior will remain at the club next season after securing their promotion, the first Serie A experience in 34 years.

“Absolutely, he has a long contract,” Corrado told La Gazzetta di Parma newspaper.

“Obviously, if an offer arrives from Manchester City, I will let him leave, that seems only fair. But he has rediscovered the pleasure of success also thanks to Pisa.

“He said this is one of the best environments he has ever experienced as a coach, and that is very pleasing for us too.”

Unlike Simone, Pippo has been around quite a few clubs in his management career, which started at Milan in 2014-15.

He went on to experiences at Venezia, Bologna, Benevento, Brescia, Reggina, Salernitana and since July 2024 has been at the helm of Pisa.

“In reality, he had already been contacting us wanting to come to Pisa for two or three years, but we weren’t ready for him,” revealed Corrado.

“The intuition was from my son Giovanni, who chose Inzaghi and convinced him to gamble on a young squad.”
