Player Chelsea sold compared to Arjen Robben by top pundit – Blues may regret move

Chelsea had yet another busy summer of buying and selling, with tons of players coming and going.

One major name to leave was Noni Madueke, a controversial player in Chelsea’s fanbase.

Some were delighted to see Arsenal pick him up for a big fee, others claimed it was mad to let a player go just as he seemed to be reaching the top level. His good performances for the Gunners so far seem to be proving the latter party correct.

Gary Neville hails Madueke’s instant impact

“Madueke’s a lot better than I imagined and thought he would be, and certainly a lot better than Arsenal fans thought he would be,” Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville said in his summary of the weekend’s action.

“A couple of the runs that he made for England on Wednesday night were a different level.

“I thought, those runs… Arjen Robben used to make those runs against me. Sometimes you play against wingers who are dribbling at you and you know they’ve got a trick and you know you’re going to be in for a difficult day, and then you’ve got players who are a step above, a level above.

“I’m not saying Madueke’s there yet, but his movements and the things he’s doing are very, very good.”

Chelsea already look to have lost out on winger shuffle

A winger you’ve just sold being compared to Arjen Robben? That’s not what you want to hear, especially when the player you brought in to replace him, Jamie Gittens, has had a pretty tough start to life in West London.

There is still a long time left in the season and in the career of both players. But right now, this particular asset juggle looks to have cost Chelsea on the pitch, even if it was necessary for balancing the books.
