Player ratings as Arsenal edge past Manchester United at Old Trafford

The full-time whistle has blown at Old Trafford with Manchester United recording a 14 Premier League defeat of the season. Leandro Trossard’s first half winner was enough to seal a crucial 1-0 victory for Arsenal.

United, who have now lost 19 games in all competitions this season, remain eighth in the league table with two games remaining (Newcastle & Brighton). We go into those games after winning just two of our last 11 league matches.

This isn’t how Erik ten Hag wanted the end of the season to go. It’s now a great way to boost morale ahead of an FA Cup final against Man City. The Dutchman has one hand tied behind his back with the team stuck in an injury crisis.

Without further ado, here is how we rated each United player in the 1-0 defeat against Arsenal:

Andre Onana – 7

Best performance in a while. Kept busy with some stunning saves. I’d argue he would have had a clean sheet if Casemiro and Aaron Wan-Bissaka didn’t suffer lapses in concentration for Trossard’s goal.

Diogo Dalot – 7

Solid display defensive. Got forward well but lacked end product.

Casemiro – 4

Lazy for Arsenal’s goal. I’m not sure I want to see him at centre-back again.

Jonny Evans – 5

Better than his partner.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 4

Trossard proved to be a nightmare for the full-back. Another player running out of time at Old Trafford.

Kobbie Mainoo – 6

Better display than he’s shown in recent times.

Sofyan Amrabat – 6

Provided balance in midfield. Probably his best performance in a United shirt.

Amad – 7

There’s a bit about him. He got at Arsenal and I couldn’t help but ask myself why we haven’t seen him more. Hope the knock he sustained isn’t serious.

Scott McTominay – 4

Didn’t have any real impact on the game.

Alejandro Garnacho – 5

United’s liveware in attack. Couldn’t do it all on his own.

Rasmus Hojlund – 3

No impact. Little service.

Subs

Antony – 4

Meh. Amad looks a much better player already and that should worry the Brazilian.

Willy Kambwala – 6

Replaced Evans and made a stunning tackle on Kai Havertz near the end.

Christian Eriksen – 5

Came on late.

Omari Forson – 5

Another late arrival.

Ethan Wheatley – 5

Replaced Hojlund.
