Player Ratings: Milan 3-0 Monza – Reijnders class, shining Simic

Tijjani Reijnders slick strike, Jan-Carlo Simic’s debut goal and Noah Okafor’s finishing move drove Milan to a much-needed win over Monza. Check out Football Italia’s player ratings.

Milan

Maignan – 7.5 – A confident display from the Frenchman, who made four key saves and distributed well throughout the match.

Tomori – 6.5 – The Englishman helped keep things under control at the back and was often the starting point for build-up play.

Kjaer – 6 – A good afternoon for the veteran centre back, who hardly looked trouble by the Biancorossi. (67′ Bartesaghi – 6)

Pobega – N/A – Hardly time to make an impact before suffering a muscle injury. (23′ Simic – 7 – A debut to remember for the teenager, who scored his first goal for the club before half time.)

Florenzi – 7 – Came painfully close to scoring twice in the first half and generally proved a threat to Monza throughout.

Loftus-Cheek – 6 – A fairly standard match for the English midfielder, who failed to stand out but also avoided any major errors. (67′ Bennacer – 6)

Reijnders – 8.5 – An almost flawless performance from the 25-year-old, who scored a beautiful opening goal and played an important role in the build-up to the third.

Hernandez – 7.5 – The Frenchman again showed his quality in red and black, looking dangerous on the left and passing with impressive accuracy.

Pulisic – 6.5 – A decent performance from the American winger, who created two decent chances and had two attempts on goal, as well as providing the assist for Reijnders’ opener.

Giroud – 6.5 – Whilst he didn’t get on the scoresheet himself, the 37-year-old was an important point of reference for his teammates and he played the final pass in the slick team goal.

Leao – 7 – Pulled off a clever spin to provide the assist for Simic’s debut goal but failed to punish Monza. (67′ Okafor – N/A – A good but brief showing from the forward, who netted his first goal in months. A shame about his injury.)
