Player with 91 appearances will not play for Tottenham again

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to sanction the departure of Tanguy Ndombele in the summer.

The North London outfit forked out £63 million to sign the 27-year-old back in 2019. They broke their transfer record to sign him from Lyon. While he has featured in 91 matches for Tottenham, the move hasn’t really gone according to plan for both parties and Spurs are now looking to offload him ahead of next season.

According to Pete O’Rourke from Football Insider, Ndombele will not play for Tottenham again. The French international has no future at the North London club and they are trying to figure out a way to get him off their books.

After struggling to cement his place in the first team since joining the club in 2019, the 27-year-old returned to his former club Lyon in the winter of 2022. After that, he has had multiple loan spells away from Tottenham and is currently on loan at Galatasaray.

Ndombele hasn’t had the best of times in Turkey, he might have featured in 25 matches but has racked up less than 700 minutes of first-team football. They do have a buy option worth €15 million but have no intentions of keeping the 27-year-old beyond this season.

Tanguy Ndombele needs to move on

While the French midfielder will return to his parent club in the summer, there is no place for him in Ange Postecoglou’s plans. Spurs are expected to make some changes in the middle of the park but Ndombele is unlikely to play for them again. With his contract running out in 2025, they are ready to listen to offers for him as they look to raise some funds from his departure.

With that said, given his performances in recent seasons, it will be very difficult to secure a reasonable amount of money for his services. The midfielder was once regarded as a world class prospect, but his career has nosedived in recent years.
