AC Milan duo Tommaso Pobega and Malick Thiaw both underwent personalised training today in the lead-up to the Europa League clash against AS Roma.

As reported by Milan News, the Italian midfielder and the German defender are on their way back from injury and are working towards the upcoming fixtures.

Both players have missed the bulk of this season with injuries and it seems more likely that Thiaw will make it in time to face Roma rather than Pobega.

Until he got his injury, Thiaw had become the favoured centre-back partner of Fikayo Tomori. The Englishman only recently returned from an injury of his own but he is suspended in the Europa League for the first leg, so Thiaw returning would be very helpful.

Stefano Pioli talked about Thiaw’s fitness before the Lecce match last Saturday and explained that they hope he can make it back to face Roma given the other absentees: “He wasn’t able to complete all the training sessions with us, so on a precautionary level he won’t be called up tomorrow but with the great hope that he will be available for Thursday given the absence of Kalulu and Tomori.”

Pobega is training at Milanello ahead of schedule after he had surgery on a knee injury, but is still not expected to feature against Roma.
