Thomas Frank has his work cut out at Tottenham Hotspur this summer as he looks to undertake a rebuild and get the club back up the Premier League table.
Guaranteeing Champions League football for next season will allow Spurs to bring in quality players to bolster the squad. They can tempt some highly-regarded prospects from across the continent to White Hart Lane by offering them a platform to hone their skills play in the Champions League.
There is no surprise that Tottenham are looking to bring in attacking reinforcements for next season. The North Londoners struggled to unlock teams many times last season, and signing a quality attacker will solve a lot of their problems in the final third. It has been reported that Spurs have been keeping tabs on highly-rated FC Copenhagen winger Roony Bardghji.
Roony Bardghji has been out of action with a serious knee injury for some time. Since suffering an ACL damage during a training session, he has missed over 50 games for FC Copenhagen. The winger’s recent return to action has seen Tottenham revive their interest in him. With the player rejecting the idea to sign a new contract, FC Copenhagen are likely to sell him this summer.
As it had become apparent that the Danish giants are ready to sell Bardghji, one club has made significant pursuit of the youngster. According to Danish news outlet Bold, FC Porto have made an improved bid for Bardghji. The Portuguese club have submitted a second improved offer for the winger and are now working with FC Copenhagen to get a deal done.
Bardghji has just six months left on his contract (Transfermarkt), so FC Porto are looking to secure his signature on a cut-price deal this summer. Porto edging towards getting a deal done for the highly-rated teenager is a seismic blow to Tottenham, who are planning to kickstart a new era under Thomas Frank.
The North Londoners have been Bardghji’s long-term admirers. A left-footed right-winger, the Swede would have been an exciting option to bolster Tottenham’s attacking ranks and compete with Brennan Johnson next term. He could have given Frank’s side a different dimension in attack whilst being a solid player to bring off the bench.
Dubbed ‘the Swedish Messi’ , it proves just how highly regarded he is and why the N17-based outfit have been keen on signing him. However, Porto have submitted a second bid and look in control of the situation surrounding Bardghji. Keeping that in mind, Daniel Levy must shift his focus elsewhere to fortify the wing department.
