Tottenham have reached the Europa League final under Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham Hotspur have reached the Europa League final under Ange Postecoglou. The Lilywhites have the chance of ending the season on a high and making it a memorable one. It was always going to be a tricky semi-final tie against Bodo/Glimt and Ange’s men could have easily folded if they were complacent. But credit should go to the players for being focused and getting the task done.

Spurs have a fantastic chance of ending their 17-year long misery and bringing silverware back to N17. The North London club is within touching distance of winning the Europa League and qualifying for Champions League football next season. It is also the first time in six years that the Lilywhites will play in a European final.

Ange’s men secured a comfortable 0-2 victory on Thursday night in the second leg of the semi-finals. The Lilywhites played a brilliant game from start to finish, stuck to the task at hand, and secured a comprehensive 5-1 win on aggregate. Dominic Solanke continued his fine goalscoring form to give Spurs the lead on the night. Then it was Pedro Porro’s cross-cum-shot that sealed the tie for Tottenham in the latter stages of the second half.

Ange Postecoglou leads Tottenham to the UEL final

Tottenham fans are celebrating as their team has reached the Europa League finals this season. The Lilywhites have saved their best for the last part of the campaign and enjoyed an emphatic win against Bodo/Glimt in the semi-final. The fans will now book their tickets to Bilbao for the most important game in the club’s recent history as Spurs face Manchester United for the trophy.

Talking about the return leg of the semi-final clash against Bodo/Glimt, Ange Postecoglou said in his presser (as transcribed by Football.london),

“The players were outstanding. They were well-prepared tonight, the staff did a great job of making sure the boys were really clear about what we needed to do. They executed it perfectly. It’s been well-chronicled in the last few days it’s a difficult place to come through.”

The Australian added,

“They’ve got a really imposing home record, not just with wins but with goals, I thought the lads just handled it really well, as they have throughout this European campaign, particularly the knock-out stages, and credit to them, I thought they did an outstanding job.”

Big Ange was full of praise for his players after they secured a place in the final. The Spurs manager suggested that his team was well prepared to do what was needed and the players executed their tasks perfectly. Ange Postecoglou also pointed out that playing against Bodo/Glimt away from home is not always the easiest, but the players handled the pressure really well and did an outstanding job.

Spurs have endured a tough domestic campaign, but winning the Europa League would make this season a success. Credit should go to Daniel Levy for sticking by Ange Postecoglou in the tough times and giving the 59-year-old a chance to redeem himself. The Australian manager did say earlier in the season that he wins trophies in his second season at a club. Now, he has the chance to turn that into reality.

It is going to be a long anxious wait for the fans as we slowly creep towards the Europa League final. Will Ange Postecoglou cement his name in the club’s history books? Only time will tell.
