Concerns that supporters protesting the abandoned European Super League could derail Sunday's Premier League clash between rivals Manchester United and Liverpool proved to be spot on, as the game was postponed after groups of angry fans stormed into Old Trafford and broke onto the pitch.
The Premier League announced Wednesday that the match has been rescheduled, and United will again attempt to host Liverpool on May 13.
According to Mark Ogden of ESPN, the Premier League and English Football Association are investigating exactly what happened on Sunday and could slap United with punishments such as a fine, point deduction or a stadium closure for a future event.
Starting with Thursday's Europa Leauge match versus AS Roma, United will now play four games in one week. They'll face Aston Villa on Sunday, Leicester City next Tuesday, and then Liverpool two days later.
United are currently second in the Premier League table but are 13 points off leaders and uncrowned champions Manchester City. Liverpool, meanwhile, are seventh on 54 points.
