Precited XIs for Milan vs. Salernitana – Pioli experiments with Florenzi in midfield

AC Milan will take to the field for the final time in the 2023-24 season tonight when they host an already relegated Salernitana side, and it will be a night of farewells.

It will be a night of emotions at San Siro, as Olivier Giroud and Simon Kjaer will leave when their contracts expire meaning they will get a great send-off, while Pioli’s exit was also confirmed on Friday

According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), Pioli is expected to give Antonio Mirante a farewell appearance in goal, with Davide Calabria, Fikayo Tomori, Matteo Gabbia and Theo Hernandez the back four in front of him.

Alessandro Florenzi is now expected to play in a midfield double pivot, a position that he has often taken up during games coming in from the right, with Tijjani Reijnders next to him.

That frees Ismael Bennacer up to play a slightly more advanced role, flanked by Christian Pulisic on the right wing, Rafael Leao on the left and Olivier Giroud leading the line in his final appearance.

Predicted Milan XI (4-3-3): Sportiello; Calabria, Tomori, Gabbia, Theo Hernandez; Musah, Reijnders, Bennacer; Pulisic, Giroud, Leao.

Predicted Salernitana XI (3-4-2-1): Fiorillo; Pierozzi, Gyomber, Pellegrino; Sambia, Coulibaly, Maggiore, Zanoli; Tchaouna, Candreva; Simy.
