West Ham United are thinking about doing more business with Eredivisie side Ajax after signing Edson Alvarez from them. Now there is an update on the possibility of signing versatile midfielder Mohammed Kudus.

West Ham United to Continue Talks Over Mohammed Kudus Signing

How Close Are West Ham to Signing Kudus?

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has reported that West Ham had had their latest offer rejected by the Dutch club for the 22-year-old, with the Eredivisie side valuing him at a rumoured £40 million. The proposal was well below what the Eredivisie giants expect to sell him for, and it is now unclear where his situation will go from here. Ornstein also mentions that Kudus has a “preference to depart” in the summer and rejected a one-year extension in April.

Kudus has also been linked with multiple Premier League sides this season, with Brighton & Hove Albion claiming to have agreed a £34.5 million fee with Ajax for him but were unable to get him to agree personal terms.

What Else Are the Hammers Working On?

After seeing the deal to sign Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire fall through, David Moyes’ side is now looking to sign a new centre-back to add more depth to the backline. The Hammers are reportedly in an advanced position to sign Stuttgart defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, who used to play for Arsenal.

The 22-year-old, who was praised last season by Jurgen Klopp for his “incredible” goal against Liverpool in the Champions League, can play in multiple roles that include as a midfielder, winger and even as a forward. He is coming off an impressive campaign in which he scored 18 goals and provided seven assists across all competitions for the Dutch side, and it remains to be seen if the Irons can get a deal done before the end of the transfer window.
