Now, however, several top teams in the Premier League could swoop in and snap him up. According to a recent report from TEAMtalk, Chelsea are ‘in talks’ to bring him to Stamford Bridge. Additionally, the report claims that Chelsea and Leverkusen have already agreed upon a fee.

As well as this, the report also states that Tottenham Hotspur have made ‘enquiries’ into Alajbegovic’s availability, though nothing has been agreed between the Lilywhites and Leverkusen as things stand. They’re also looking to sign Savinho from Manchester City, which would rule them out of contention if that deal goes through.

Despite this, Chelsea are not the only interested party in this particular equation. Back in June, TEAMtalk also reported that Arsenal and Manchester United were looking to bring him on board, as well as Inter Milan, Napoli and Roma.

Furthermore, SportsBoom also claims that Bournemouth and Brighton are looking to sign the player. They must both be considered outsiders, but would likely afford him much more playing time than any of the other parties mentioned.

What would Kerim Alajbegovic bring to Chelsea?

As we’ve already mentioned, Alajbegovic is far from the finished product. However, for a club of Chelsea’s disposition, this is no issue.

Todd Boehly’s transfer policy has always been to sign the best youngsters in the world. To that end, the Bosnian international fits the bill perfectly.

A natural winger, he can play on either flank on account of him being very two-footed. This makes him a very multi-faceted player, as he can cut inside or run against the touchline on either side. As well as this, he can also function effectively as an attacking midfielder.

Generally, however, Alajbegovic plays as a left winger. Scoring nine goals in 28 Austrian Bundesliga games last season, he also found the back of the net twice in Salzburg’s Europa League campaign.

Furthermore, he also has a noticeable physical presence on the pitch. Being naturally strong and standing at 6ft 1, he’s a powerful player who is difficult to muscle off the ball. Combining this with his pace, he can burst through defensive lines with ease.

Due to his height, in theory, he could also play as a striker. We haven’t seen this from him yet, but it’s something that definitely could be in his locker in the future.
