Tiago Pinto says Bournemouth will do everything to keep Manchester United’s managerial target, Andoni Iraola

Manchester United’s search for continuity runs parallel to growing curiosity about Andoni Iraola. The Bournemouth manager has built a reputation for discipline, clarity, and courage.

His team play with energy and confidence, and that style has attracted the attention of bigger clubs, including Manchester United. As results fluctuate under Ruben Amorim, talk about possible alternatives has started to surface again. It feels familiar, as if Old Trafford never truly rests when fans and pundits discuss managers.

We reported earlier that Manchester United have been linked with Iraola, and given the club’s uncertain long-term direction, few would be surprised if those links grow louder in the coming months. Bournemouth, meanwhile, hold firm and try to build something lasting under their Spanish coach. He has earned the trust of his players and supporters.

“In Bournemouth, from the receptionist to Bill Foley [the club’s owner], everyone wants Andoni to stay. So we will do our best to keep him.”

“I think Andoni is happy in Bournemouth, like you guys know, every time he jumps in the press conference. But we know how football is, so it’s something that we will discuss internally, and of course, we hope that he’s going to stay.”

The United conundrum and the road ahead

At Manchester United, patience finally enters the picture. Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s recent remarks show a rare commitment to stability. He plans to give Amorim three years to shape his project. This marks a change from the past, when decision-makers often acted under emotional strain and short-term pressure.

Still, there is tension surrounding the club. United’s uneven start to the season has drawn criticism from Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher. Paul Scholes has called for Eddie Howe to replace Ruben Amorim at Manchester United, adding more noise to the discussion about Amorim’s future. Meanwhile, the forty-year-old has chosen to stick with his 3–4–3 system, which has divided opinion. Some have called it stubbornness, while others see conviction in his method.

For now, Amorim keeps his job, but football changes fast. If results fail to improve in the upcoming matches, the board may lose patience sooner than expected. In that case, Iraola’s calmness and leadership could attract even stronger interest. Bournemouth will fight to keep him, yet ambition often defeats loyalty. It feels increasingly possible that Iraola could soon move to a club where expectation never fades, and that place, right now, is Manchester United.
