Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for a busy summer window as they look to rejuvenate Ange Postecoglou’s squad further after an underwhelming Premier League campaign.
Several Spurs stars are facing uncertain futures ahead of the summer transfer window. Richarlison is one of them. The Brazilian barely managed to make an impact this past season due to persistent injury problems. He enjoyed limited action on the pitch, making only 23 appearances across all competitions in the process.
Having frustrated the club bosses due to his persistent injury struggles and unavailability, the Lilywhites are set to sanction his exit this summer. They are planning to sell Richarlison amid interest from Premier League rivals Everton, and are looking to recoup around €35 million for him.
Everton have been keen on re-signing the 28-year-old forward on loan for the 2025/26 season. The Merseysiders view him as a potential replacement for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is set to leave Goodison Park on a free transfer at the end of June. Earlier this month, though, Everton boss David Moyes poured cold water on rumours of Richarlison returning to the club, stating there is “zero truth in that from my side”.
With so many players out of contract and set to leave on a free transfer this summer, there is no beating around the bush for the Toffees that they will require new players to be competitive and stay far away from the relegation zone next season. Despite Moyes’ comments, if the club feels like bringing back Richarlison as one of the summer signings, they may now have a fantastic chance of thrashing out a deal with Tottenham.
According to a report from The Athletic, new Everton CEO Angus Kinnear could facilate Richarlison’s move to Everton thanks to his good relationship with Tottenham honcho Daniel Levy.
Angus Kinnear, 47, was previously employed at Leeds United, where he helped the club to sign Manor Solomon on a season-long loan from Tottenham last summer. Now having swapped Leeds United for Everton, the Merseysiders may hugely benefit from the Englishman’s links with Levy in a potential move for Richarlison.
In short, Kinnear could have a huge say over the future of Richarlison, who enjoyed the best years of his career at Everton that prompted Tottenham to shell a big fee to sign him back in 2022. It remains to be seen what exactly happens with the South American now that the season has ended. Tottenham want to move him on as the transfer has not worked out, and a switch back to Everton for the aforementioned quoted fee should suit all parties involved.
