Reports of Hull City's doom looked greatly exaggerated

Another matchday, another shock Hull City win. The newly-promoted side—destined for relegation according to just about every pundit on the planet—beat Coventry City 1-0 to keep up its perfect record in the Premier League. It's third in the league standings with winnable fixtures against Aston Villa and Newcastle on the horizon.

"To say we are the worst team in Premier League history, it's not a bad start from the boys," joked Hull striker Ollie McBurnie, poking fun at the team's public perception. "We are here on merit. We deserve to be here. We don't have anything to prove to anyone."

Chelsea played out another wildly entertaining fixture

Chelsea's breathless 3-2 win over Fulham on the opening day of the season set it up as the Premier League's most entertaining team—and it kept that banner raised on Matchday 2. It played out a frankly ridiculous 4-3 win over Brighton that featured a Joao Pedro goal, a Joao Pedro own goal, a last-gasp Brighton game-changer in the 96th minute, and yet another game-winning Cole Palmer stunner. If you're a neutral fan looking for a team to watch this season, look no further than Xabi Alonso's Chelsea. It's a team that's going to give you a little bit of everything.

Still, the question remains: can Chelsea be a legitimate title challenger while shipping goals like it's going out of style? Sure, the team is 2-0 in the league thus far, but it's conceded five separate goals in 180 minutes of play. The arrival of World Cup-winning goalkeeper Emi Martinez should help staunch the flow, but Chelsea needs further defensive growth if it wants to be the league's champion and not just the league's most entertaining team.

Tottenham Hotspur showed no signs of life or "mentality."

Tottenham Hotspur is in trouble. The beleaguered side fell 2-0 to Newcastle on Matchday 2 and dropped to 20th of 20 in the Premier League. It's still early, but the team's season-long statistics make for grim reading: played two, lost two, scored zero, conceded five. Oof.

Spurs coach Roberto De Zerbi chalked the poor results up to mentality. 

"It’s the biggest problem, it’s the biggest challenge and the biggest target is to find the right mentality," De Zerbi said. "You can’t find the right mentality in the transfer market." 

Perhaps not...but if that's true, then Spurs fans are well within their rights to ask De Zerbi where exactly he plans on digging some of that mentality up.
