Premier League schedule released for the resumed 2019-20 season

Football fans around the world received a late Christmas present on Thursday when the Premier League announced it intends to resume its 2019-20 season on June 17.

The season was suspended in March because of the coronavirus pandemic.

ESPN's Dale Johnson‏ provided an updated schedule for the English top-flight and tweeted that games will be played every day:

Matches will be scheduled as follows.

Friday 20:00
Saturday 12:30, 15:00, 17:30 and 20:00
Sunday 12:00, 14:00, 16:30 and 19:00
Monday 20:00
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 18:00 and 20:00

Safety requirements still to be approved for the final go-ahead.

All times listed are local for the UK: Monday 20:00; Tuesday 18:00 and 20:00; Wednesday 18:00 and 20:00; Thursday 18:00 and 20:00; Friday 20:00; Saturday: 12:30, 15:00, 17:30 and 20:00; Sunday: 12:00, 14:00, 16:30 and 19:00.

On Wednesday, June 17, Aston Villa will face Sheffield United, and Manchester City will play against Arsenal.

Clubs have between nine and 10 fixtures remaining on their domestic calendars. Liverpool, 25 points clear of City, are the uncrowned champions of the Premier League.

Chelsea, Manchester United, Wolverhampton, Sheffield, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are set to battle over the final Champions League berth and Europa League qualifying spots.

Norwich, Villa and Bournemouth are currently in the relegation places. Watford, West Ham United and Brighton & Hove Albion will all also be fighting for their Premier League lives during the final weeks of the campaign.
