The last Premier League gameweek of November is behind us. With a hectic December schedule facing clubs across the country, who is in a good position ahead of the festive period?
Teams such as Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City all picked up wins this week – but did any of them make it into our team of the week for gameweek 13?
Only three goalkeepers kept clean sheets in the Premier League this weekend. Of the three, none of them made as many saves as Aston Villa’s Emi Martinez.
In a feisty Midlands Derby, Martinez made six saves against Wolves to give the Villans the local bragging rights.
Reece James’ wonderful season at Chelsea just got even better as he put in an heroic performance against Arsenal, despite the Blues being reduced to ten men.
James led by example, covering every blade of grass and finding the assist to give Chelsea the lead early on in the second half. A true captain’s performance.
Malick Thiaw scored a brace at the weekend as Newcastle United thumped Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday evening.
While he couldn’t maintain a clean sheet for his team, his two goals have given us more than enough reason to include him in our team of the week.
Like Thiaw, Trevoh Chalobah isn’t in this XI for his defensive contributions over the weekend – instead, he’s here because of the goal he scored.
Few goals will be more important for Chelsea this season – it spared them from defeat against the top team in the division, which looked like a certainty after Moises Caicedo was sent off.
Nottingham Forest have shown signs of revitalisation under Sean Dyche, but Brighton and Maxim De Cuyper cut them down to size on Saturday afternoon.
De Cuyper netted the Seagulls’ first goal in a comfortable 2-0 win as they breezed past the Trees at the City Ground.
Sunderland were at it again on Saturday afternoon – Regis le Bris’ Black Cats continue to defy expectations as they collected another Premier League scalp.
Bournemouth were their victims this time around – Enzo Le Fee was Sunderland’s star of the show, scoring a well-taken penalty and registering an assist.
It’s hard to believe that Newcastle’s Lewis Miley is only 19 – his physicality and mentality are well beyond his years.
Everton couldn’t contain him at the weekend, as he continually left their midfield chasing their tails. Not only did he find an assist within the first minute of the game, he also scored later in the first half.
Cody Gakpo, along with the rest of the Liverpool team, has come under heavy criticism recently. However, there were no critiques to be held over his performance against West Ham United.
It’s premature to say that Liverpool are anywhere near back to their best, but Gakpo did what he had to do to give them the three points, scoring a goal and notching up an assist.
Bruno Fernandes has enjoyed an uptick in form recently – he dragged Manchester United to a vital win over Crystal Palace at the weekend.
He assisted both of the Red Devils’ goals against the Eagles as they picked up a much-needed victory on the road.
Phil Foden is another player who looks to be back in form after a difficult period. Scoring twice against Leeds United, he put himself firmly back in contention for the England squad.
City certainly didn’t make it easy for themselves against Leeds – lucklily for them, Foden was on hand to bail them out.
Igor Thiago is proving to be one of the best signings of the season as the Brentford man shone brightly once again against Burnley.
The Brazilian scored a brace against the Clarets, both coming late on in the game as the Bees picked up a 3-1 home win.
