The Premier League returned from the international break with goals, unexpected results and several outstanding individual performances. Manchester City delivered a commanding victory over Liverpool at Anfield, while Arsenal edged Leeds United in a closely contested match. Chelsea, meanwhile, produced one of the weekend’s most emphatic results with a five-goal performance against Bournemouth who are still searching for their first win.

Brighton maintained their strong position with a win over Sunderland, while several other fixtures produced impressive individual displays despite mixed team results. Our Premier League Team Of The Week Of Match week 6 rewards players who made a clear impact through goals, assists, defensive work, creativity and goalkeeping.

Like our Premier League Team of the Week XI from match week 5 there are several players from Enzo Maresca’s red hot Manchester City who made it 6 wins from 6, while promoted team Coventry City had several players make the XI off the back of their 4-1 win over Newcastle. Arsenal and Brighton both had players in the XI this week as the clubs continued their great start to the season. Chelsea and Everton both had players selected after solid outings which moved them up the table.

Manchester United and Spurs who shared a 1-1 tie on Saturday did not do enough to have a player in the XI which shows the poor form both clubs are in although Spurs are certainly looking better while United look lost and off the pace.

Without further a do here is the best XI in a 4-3-3 formation.

Goalkeeper and defenders

1. Gianluigi Donnarumma (Manchester City) – Goalkeeper

Donnarumma earns his place after an excellent display against Liverpool. His six saves and nine recoveries helped City secure a 3-0 win at Anfield, where Liverpool struggled to break through.

2. Nordi Mukiele (Sunderland) – Right-back

Although Sunderland lost 2-0 to Brighton, Mukiele delivered a determined defensive performance. He recorded 10 defensive contributions and won seven aerial duels, giving his side valuable resistance against Brighton’s attacking threats.

3. Bobby Thomas (Coventry) – Centre-back

He made two decisive clearances. One came when he got ahead of Fernandez-Pardo to clear. The other was a goal-line clearance after Fernandez-Pardo had rounded the goalkeeper. Newcastle had two big chances, and Thomas denied both. That kept Coventry in front until their finishing took over

4. James Tarkowski (Everton) – Centre-back

Tarkowski stood out during Everton’s 2-2 draw against Hull City. His 17 defensive contributions included a crucial goal-line clearance, demonstrating his determination to protect Everton when their opponents threatened.

5. Ferdi Kadioglu (Brighton) – Left-back

Kadioglu impressed in Brighton’s victory over Sunderland, making 12 defensive contributions and winning all four of his duels. His work at left-back helped Brighton maintain control without sacrificing defensive discipline.

Midfielders

6. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (Everton) – Central midfielder

Dewsbury-Hall influenced Everton’s match against Hull with a goal and an assist. He scored the equaliser before setting up Thierno Barry to give Everton the lead, although Hull eventually fought back.

7. Elliot Anderson (Manchester City) – Defensive midfielder

Anderson played a key role in City’s victory at Anfield, providing an assist and winning eight free kicks. His ability to relieve pressure and help City retain control proved valuable throughout the match.

8. Jordan Henderson (Chelsea) – Central midfielder

Henderson rolled back the years and produced one of the weekend’s standout performances against Bournemouth. He scored twice, including a long-range effort and a free kick, and assisted Morgan Rogers, completing a remarkable three-goal contribution in Chelsea’s emphatic victory.

Forwards

9. Noni Madueke (Arsenal) – Right-winger

Madueke supplied creativity during Arsenal‘s 2-1 win over Leeds. He created four chances, completed five of six crosses and won both of his attempted dribbles, helping Arsenal break down a difficult opponent.

10. Joao Pedro (Chelsea) – Striker

Joao Pedro delivered two goals against Bournemouth as Chelsea claimed a convincing victory. His finishing and movement gave the opposition defence a difficult afternoon and reinforced his importance to Chelsea’s attack.

11. LW: Sidiki Cherif (Coventry) – Left-winger

The 19-year-old summer signing had a big hand in two goals. He was fouled by the goalkeeper for the sixth-minute penalty. He then scored a powerful low strike from just outside the box, his first goal for the club. He also missed a couple of chances, so his numbers are not flawless. Still, he gave Newcastle’s defence a hard evening.

Final XI (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Mukiele, Thomas, Tarkowski, Kadioglu; Dewsbury-Hall, Anderson, Henderson; Madueke, Joao Pedro, Cherif.
