A car accident in England has resulted in a Premier League soccer star being sent to the hospital.
On Saturday, the West Ham United Football Club announced that star striker Michail Antonio is in "stable condition" after a road traffic accident that occurred on Saturday afternoon in Essex. Per the announcement, he is "conscious and communicating" but remains under close supervision at a hospital in London.
"West Ham United can confirm that Michail Antonio is in a stable condition following a road traffic accident this afternoon in the Essex area. Michail is conscious and communicating and is currently under close supervision at a central London hospital. At this difficult time, we kindly ask everyone to respect the privacy of Michail and his family. The Club will make no further comment this evening, but will issue a further update in due course," the team said.

Antonio is West Ham's all-time leading striker with 68 Premier League goals and 83 goals across all competitions. He was voted the West Ham United Hammer of the Year in 2017 and had four straight seasons with double-digit goals for the club.
At the international level, the 34-year-old has been a striker for Jamaica since 2021, scoring five goals in 21 games with three of them coming in the team's 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification games.
West Ham are slated to play the Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday. The team is currently 14th on the Premier League table with 15 points from four wins, three draws and seven losses.
