Viktor Gyokeres is not interested in moving to Manchester United

Manchester United are determined to resolve their goalscoring woes this summer and are actively pursuing the signing of a world-class striker. The lack of consistent output up front has been a major issue this season, with Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee both failing to meet expectations. Their inconsistency has become a significant obstacle for Rúben Amorim, who needs a dependable presence in the final third to spearhead his attacking setup.

One name heavily linked with United is Viktor Gyokeres, a player who thrived under Amorim’s management at Sporting CP. The Swedish striker has developed into one of the most lethal number nines in world football, attracting attention from Europe’s top clubs. With a prior connection to the manager and a skillset that fits United’s needs, the 26-year-old is emerging as a top target in the club’s summer transfer plans.

Viktor Gyokeres does not want to move to Manchester United

Florian Plettenberg has meanwhile reported that Gyokeres might leave Sporting for €60-70 million in the summer, but he will not leave for Nottingham Forest. Meanwhile, A Bola via Sportsmole have reported that United are also not the favorites to sign Gyokeres in the summer, and the Swede might prefer a move to Liverpool, Arsenal, or Manchester City. Reuniting with former manager Amorim is not at the top of the priority list of the Swede.

He is a striker who’s got the lot-pace, power, and a knack for finding the net. The guy is a physical beast, shrugging off defenders with ease while holding up play like a classic target man. But don’t be fooled, Gyokeres is no lumbering giant. His quick feet and sharp dribbling let him move past challenges, and his finishing? Lethal, whether it’s a rocket with his right or a cool tap-in.

The 26-year-old has got a striker’s brain too, popping up in the box at just the right moment. Add tireless pressing, and Gyokeres is a nightmare for any backline. He has scored 28 goals in 25 matches so far in the Liga NOS 2024/2025 season. The striker has amassed a G/A of 33 so far this season, which shows that he has been in sensational form.

How will it feel for United fans?

For a United fan, it’s a kick in the teeth hearing Gyokeres might snub them for Liverpool, Arsenal, or Man City. His pace and goals could’ve transformed United’s attack, especially with Hojlund needing support. Losing out to rivals will sting for Manchester United. The Red Devils need to splash cash and show ambition, or be left behind in the chase for the Premier League summit.
