Arsenal fans will be chewing their nails when they hear that Ousmane Dembele is very likely to feature in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League semifinal. Despite the injury setback in the first leg, the club released a statement that the recovery is progressing well. With his availability for the Arsenal clash, Enrique and PSG can flex their attacking options in the home leg.
According to the recent update from Fabrice Hawkins, Dembele was absent from PSG’s midweek training sessions for the upcoming match against Strasbourg. Hence, the former Barcelona man won’t feature in the upcoming Ligue 1 fixture. As there were no enhanced reports on the hamstring issue, there were doubts whether he will be fit for the Champions League second leg.
Now, PSG has officially released a statement on Dembele’s condition as they look to reach their second Champions League final in history. It said: “Ousmane Dembele has strained his right hamstring. His condition is progressing well. A further assessment will be carried out shortly.”
Although Dembele’s involvement in the second leg is almost confirmed, it is unknown how many minutes he will have in his legs for Luis Enrique. There are reports that Dembele could come on in the second half of the game if PSG chases the result.
On the other hand, Arsenal have plenty of injury issues of their own. Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Riccardo Calafiori, and Jorginho are all out of action for the Gunners. However, Thomas Partey will return to action after he completed his suspension in the first leg of the Champions League semifinal.
