According to ESPN, PSG was hoping as recently as last week that they could convince Mbappe to stay for one more season and had offered him a huge new deal along with "promised him a better squad for next season, offered him the captain's armband and 100 percent of his own image rights, according to sources."
Sources also said Mbappe has always wanted to play for Real Madrid and that money has never been the issue.
It is anticipated that Real Madrid will announce the signing after its Champions League final matchup against Liverpool on May 28.
