Paris Saint-Germain has found their backup goalkeeper with the departure of Keylor Navas as a free agent and the likely decision to send Arnau Tenas on loan this summer.

The 2023-24 season is barely a day from being over for PSG, and they have reportedly made their first signing of the summer to secure a player that will not only backup Gianluigi Donnarumma but perhaps challenge him should the Italian standout stumble at any point next season.

Foot Mercato reports that the Parisians are on the verge of completing the transfer of Krasnodar goalkeeper Matvey Safonov. According to the outlet, PSG has almost completed Safonov’s arrival. An agreement has been reached between the parties for this transfer, as only small details remain to be settled before the player’s official signature.

Reports suggest that the fee will be €20 million. PSG officially started its transfer window with the arrival of a surprise player, a decisive window that will be one of reconstruction after the departure of Kylian Mbappé.

Manager Luis Enrique has warned, he expects several recruits this summer to rebuild the squad, and it will therefore start with the arrival of a Russian goalkeeper with a little-known history.
