Kylian Mbappé has announced that he plans to leave Paris Saint-Germain when his contract ends on June 30. Although many people expect him to join Real Madrid, he hasn’t confirmed anything yet.

Moreover, the 25-year-old might not be leaving on the best of terms with the Spanish giants. There have been murmurings of a bit of a bust-up between Mbappé and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi as he prepares to leave the club.

The feeling around Mbappé’s camp is obviously one of disappointment after what happened in the Champions League, and maybe a bit of frustration that the mission that he set himself is not quite complete.

CBS Sports reporter Jonathan Johnson provided the temperature in the relationship between Mbappé and his hometown club as this chapter ends for both sides in a few weeks.

“In terms of the communication on Mbappé’s future, there’s been a bit of a divergence from how the player and the club have gone about things,” Johnson noted in his column for CaughtOffside. “PSG had quite a strict plan in place for how things were going to happen and to be communicated, and they feel this hasn’t always been respected…

“Equally, there was an inevitability of this relationship coming to an end, and maybe people were a bit surprised at how quickly Mbappé’s farewell video came out after losing the Champions League semi-final to Borussia Dortmund, but at the same time, no one was under any illusions that that was what was going to happen.”

The saga will officially end, and both parties can go their separate ways and start new, fresh chapters. In the future, a reunion could occur once the wounds of the departure are healed.
