Following their elimination from the UEFA Champions League last week, details are surfacing regarding the future of Manchester City standout Bernardo Silva. The Portuguese player came close to departing last year but opted to stay with Pep Guardiola and his team for this season.
A recent report from Spain suggests that Silva is strongly inclined to depart Manchester City this summer, with FC Barcelona emerging as his preferred destination.
Further information from those who cover the Catalan side reveals that the 2023 Champions League winner sees himself playing for the Spanish side next season.
According to journalist Ferran Correas, Silva wants to join Barcelona this summer and is ‘crazy’ about becoming a Barça player. Additionally, the report notes that the veteran player believes his cycle at Manchester City is over, and he has a release clause of €58 million.

However, Barcelona face competition from PSG, who are also keen on landing Silva. Sporting advisor Luis Campos had the player while at AS Monaco, so it’s no surprise he wants a reunion. Le Parisien reports that PSG are set to reignite interest in Silva this summer.

Chelsea currently haven’t offered more than €41m for Jorrel Hato, with Ajax wanting more according to reports in The Netherlands. The Blues are currently locked in negotiations for Hato, and the 19-year-old has already reached an agreement on personal terms, and told Ajax he wants the move. A move for Hato is reportedly very close, and the left back hasn’t played a part in Ajax’s pre-season games against Celtic and Como. Ajax want more money for Jorrel Hato Chelsea are in desperate need of back-up for Marc Cucurella, with the Spaniard currently the only left back in the squad. Hato fits the fits the bill perfectly and can also play at centre back, which makes the teenager a great fit for Enzo Maresca’s system. Chelsea are reportedly prepared to pay £44m for Hato, and negotiations have been ongoing over the past few days to try and reach a club to club agreement. According to Dutch outlet De Telegraaf Ajax are in a dilemma over Chelsea’s bid for Jorrel Hato, with the Blues not offering more than €41m so far, which the Dutch giants don’t want to accept. The report adds Ajax are unsure if other clubs will come in with a bid later in the window to meet their demands. Despite being 19 Hato has already played over 100 games for Ajax, and is a full Dutch international, so has plenty of experience already at the top level. Marc Cucurella to be offered new contract With Hato very much viewed as the future, Chelsea are reportedly planning to offer Cucurella a new contract to reflect his importance to the project. Cucurella was superb last season, and has established himself as one of Chelsea’s most important players, and one of the best left backs in the Premier League. The 27-year-old was linked with a move to Saudi side Al-Nassr, although those reports appear to be unsubstantiated, and the Spain international looks set to be a key man for the Blues for many years to come.
The Chicago Cubs are down another bat with two days to go before the trade deadline on Thursday. The Cubs had more frustrating injury news to reveal after a second-straight loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night. The Brewers defeated Chicago 9-3 in front of 40,136 fans at American Family Field to take a two-game lead over the Cubs for first place in the NL Central. Per Jesse Rogers of ESPN, the Cubs thought they received good news on Ian Happ after x-rays came back negative on the outfielder’s shin. “Happ got x-rays that were negative after fouling a ball off his left shin,” Rogers posted on X. “Was limping some just now in the Cubs room. Jackson Chourio (hammy spasm) says he’s feeling better. Doesn’t think it’s serious.” Chicago Cubs to put Ian Happ on IL About an hour later, Rogers reported that Chicago is expected to put Happ on the injured list. The Cubs are set to call up Moises Ballesteros from Iowa. “Looks like the Happ injury might require an IL stint,” Rogers posted. “The team is calling up Moises Ballesteros from Triple-A, per a source. He’s hitting .331 down there. He had a cup of coffee with the big league team earlier this year.” Happ’s injury comes at a time when the Cubs are looking to trade for an extra bat. Chicago needs help on offense with inconsistency coming from rookie third baseman Matt Shaw. Happ was batting .227 with 14 home runs and 50 RBI. Bottom line, the Cubs need to make some moves by Thursday if this team wants to compete for the NL Central, much less a World Series.
The New York Yankees acquired several talented veterans after superstar outfielder Juan Soto walked in free agency this past offseason, with southpaw pitcher Max Fried (12-4, 2.62 ERA) chief among them. They signed the latter player to an eight-year, $218 million contract, and he's given them their money's worth thus far. Fried leads New York's pitching staff in wins and ERA. The 31-year-old is also tied for third in baseball in wins, is 11th in ERA, and is 11th with a 1.03 WHIP. Still, the Yankees could use pitching help, given that ace Gerrit Cole is out for the year after getting Tommy John surgery, and 2024 AL Rookie of the Year Luis Gil will make his first start of the season on Sunday. Fried was asked after Tuesday's bout with the Tampa Bay Rays if he's anxious to see what New York does ahead of Thursday's Trade Deadline, via SNY. "You've just got to take care of business every day," he said. "That's not something that we can control...We have baseball games to win." The Yankees did just that on Tuesday, beating the Rays 7-5 in a comeback effort. Fried earned his 12th win after allowing four runs (two earned) in 6.2 innings to go with nine strikeouts and two walks. The veteran also tossed a career-high 111 pitches. Over the last few days, the Yankees acquired third baseman Ryan McMahon from the Colorado Rockies and fellow third baseman Amed Rosario from the Washington Nationals. They also traded pitcher Carlos Carrasco to the Atlanta Braves for a player to be named later or cash. New York will face Tampa Bay again on Wednesday and Thursday.
Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Hunter Greene made his second rehab start on Tuesday with Triple-A Louisville and struggled. The right-hander gave up four runs on five hits in 2 1/3 innings. He threw 50 pitches, did not walk a batter, and struck out six. Greene hasn't pitched in a big league game since June 3. He's posted a 2.72 ERA in 11 starts so far this season. Getting Greene back in the rotation would be a big boost for the rotation. The 25-year-old flamethrower has been on the injured list for a couple of months with a groin strain. He was set to go on a rehab assignment a couple of weeks ago, but felt something and the Reds elected to send him to their complex in Arizona to continue to rehab the injury. He started a game for ACL (Arizona Complex League) Reds last week. Greene will most likely make another start in Louisville before the Reds decide if he's ready or not. When Greene is back healthy, the Reds will have an interesting decision to make. Will they move Chase Burns or Nick Martinez to the bullpen? Time will tell.
